The City of Soap Lake is located in the northern
end of the Columbia Basin in Washington State and has a year around
residential average of about 1700 people. The populace increases
dramatically during the summer as many people have summer homes here and the
area is infamous for the availability of summer activities. Our office is
located at 239 2nd Ave SE, as is our City Hall and the Soap Lake Fire Dept.
Our city is best known for its mineral lake which is historically reputed to
have healing properties. At times the mineral content is so high that a foam
forms on the surface not unlike that of a bubble bath. That, in
addition to the slippery texture of the water, is how the city inherited
it's current name.
"Welcome to the official website for the Soap
Lake Police Department. Our department currently employs 4 full time Officers and
10 Reserve Officers. We also provide an Explorer program for
youths between 16 and 21 years of age. Please take a few moments to check out Our Services for more
information on the many programs supported within our department."
There is only one other lake in the world having the same properties and
that is lake Baden Baden located in Germany. Travelers from around the
world visit the lake to enjoy it's therapeutic values, as well as other
attractions such as our annual street rod and motorcycle rallies.

A special thank you
to Retired Chief Don Smith. He came to our department after Chief Scott
Stokoe retired in April of 2006. Chief Smith brought with him many years of
experience and assisted our department in a temporary position until a
permanent replacement was hired in October. He will be missed. Please
go to the photo gallery and check out the pictures
from his farewell party.
